Overview

You can rename, add, reorder, or remove stages in your hiring pipeline to fit your process. These stages appear in every job you manage and help your team track where each candidate stands.

💡 Tip: Keep stage names action-oriented (for example, Phone Screen or Interview Scheduled) so everyone knows the next step.

Edit your hiring stages

  • Open the Job Dashboard where you manage candidates.

  • Use the stage header controls to rename or delete a stage:

  • Reorder stages by dragging the stage headers into the sequence you prefer.

  • Add a new stage from the option below the Hired stage to include another step in your flow:

  • From here you can select a stage you've used previously, or create a new Custom stage:

💡 Tip: Keep your pipeline simple! Too many stages can make it harder to track candidate progress and reporting.

Best practices

  • Use clear action names: “Second Interview” “Offer Extended,” or “Background Check” make next steps obvious.

  • Avoid duplicates: Reusing similar stage names can confuse the process.

  • Review quarterly: Adjust stages as your hiring process evolves.

Common Questions

Will editing stages affect existing candidates?
No. Candidates stay in their current stage even if you rename or reorder it.

Can I restore a deleted stage?
No, but you can recreate the stage manually and move candidates back into it if needed.

Do all jobs share the same stages?
Not automatically. You can reuse similar stage names across jobs, but each new job has its own pipeline setup giving you flexibility to tailor stages per role.
