How do I chat with Scout, my recruiting assistant?

Learn how to open Scout, ask questions about your jobs and candidates, and get clear next steps in Wizehire.

Written by Tamalyn Holcomb

Overview

Scout is your personal recruiting assistant inside Wizehire.

Instead of digging through your dashboard, you can ask Scout a question in plain language. It highlights what to focus on next, surfaces your most relevant candidates, and helps with next steps like moving candidates forward, messaging them, scheduling interviews, and updating job postings.

You stay in control of every hiring decision. Scout helps you see what matters faster.

šŸ’” Helpful note: Scout is currently in Beta. Answers can vary, and Scout is improving over time based on how customers use it.

Open Scout

  • Click Scout in the top navigation bar

  • Scout opens in a panel on the right side of your screen

  • You'll see "Hi, I'm Scout. Ask anything below, or pick a starter."

Pick a starter or ask your own question

You can choose one of the starter prompts:

  • What are my next best actions?

  • Who are my top candidates?

  • Find candidates with Spanish fluency

  • Suggest changes to a job posting

Or type your own question in the Ask Scout anything... box and click the arrow to send.

šŸ’” Helpful note: The more specific your question, the more useful the answer. For example, name the job you're asking about.

See your next best actions

Ask "What are my next best actions?" and Scout shows the top actions across all your jobs, such as:

  • Advance Candidates to Interview

  • Invite Candidates to Interview

  • Refresh Jobs

These match the action cards on your dashboard, so you can review them without leaving the chat.

Find your top candidates

Ask Scout who your best candidates are for a job. Scout returns a short list of candidates from that job's pipeline.

Scout can also show a candidate's fit, including the skills it identified for the role.

Get help with your job postings

Ask Scout to suggest changes to a job posting, update a field like the job title, or draft a job description.

Scout shows you the change first. You review it before anything is applied.

Move candidates through your pipeline

Ask Scout to move one candidate or a group to a new stage. For example:

  • ā€œMove Maria to the interview stageā€

  • ā€œMove all the applied candidates to screeningā€

Scout asks you to confirm before it moves anyone. You can also move a candidate to Hired.

Message candidates

Ask Scout to message one candidate or a whole group, like everyone in a stage.

Scout shows you a draft first. Review it, then confirm to send.

šŸ’” Helpful note: Always read the draft before you send it, so names and details are correct.

Schedule interviews and send phone screens

Ask Scout to set up an interview with a candidate or send them a phone screen.

Scout may ask follow-up questions, like which phone screen template to use.

šŸ’” Helpful note: To schedule interviews, your calendar needs to be connected. See How do I schedule interviews with candidates? for setup.

How Scout handles sensitive requests

Scout reviews every prompt against hiring guardrails to help keep your hiring fair and compliant.

  • If a request is flagged, Scout tells you why

  • It may suggest a rewritten version of your prompt you can use instead

You may notice this on requests that touch on protected characteristics, like age.

Come back to a conversation

  • Click Conversation history at the top of the Scout panel to reopen a past conversation

  • Click New chat to start a new conversation

šŸ’” Helpful note: If you navigate to another page, the Scout panel closes. Open Conversation history to pick up where you left off.
